Latex

Using LaTeX is often a very good idea. But not always. My general suggestions are:

  • papers: use LaTeX
  • thesis: use LaTeX
  • reports: use something else, e.g. OpenOffice or Word
  • proposals: use something else, e.g OpenOffice or Word
  • presentations: I would like to start using LaTeX, but haven't gotten around to it yet and am using PowerPoint.

So if you are going to use LaTeX, chances are you will do so in a Windows environment, so you will need:
