"Certainly I think that we most often go after the meaning of a poem but I think that it's the experience of the poem ... We believe that language is about communication. That's what we're taught - it's to communicate with each other but I think that it's also about knowing ourselves, understanding ourselves, being with ourselves and not in a narcissistic way but the way we are connected to the natural world and to other people. When I delight in some words of poetry I get to think about who I am in those words, you know the rhythm of words and the sensual quality of words."
